How to play Mahjong Connect

Choose a round of Mahjong Connect and settle into its rules. Remove matching tiles connected by a path of at most two turns. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Begin with the solo mode shown on the page. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

A careful first round

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Remove matching tiles connected by a path of at most two turns. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

Step by step

1. Select equal tiles.
2. The route must cross only empty cells.
3. An outside-border path is allowed.
4. Open connections by removing pairs.

Controls

Tap pairs; use Hint and Undo. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Return to the rules if the result is unexpected.

A useful example

A same-row pair needs an empty route between its endpoints. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Check the stated objective.

Watch out for this
